Jira Align EAP vs. Labs

Objective

The Jira Align product team makes use of both an Early Access Program and Jira Align Labs. This document shares the differences between the two.

Details

What is an EAP?

A Jira Align Early Access Program (EAP) is considered a closed beta. The goal of an EAP is to share a proof of concept with our users in their environment, using their data. This allows customers to share feedback with the product team as they continue to refine the direction of the feature. It’s possible that a feature in the EAP will never progress beyond this phase or will evolve significantly based on our experimentation.
These features may have known limitations or defects that may impact the production use of the product and should therefore be used at the discretion of the customer.
EAP features are released to test and then ~2 weeks later to prod. Customers can turn on the toggle to try it out and provide feedback during the EAP window.

What is Jira Align Labs?

Jira Align Labs is a way for us to introduce functionality early that still requires iteration and validation. Features in Labs are those that we want to make available to all customers to help us validate we are heading in the right direction. We ask that customers try these features with an open mind and share feedback so we can continue iterating. We will accept enhancement requests as feedback only and will not commit to any changes for Labs features.
Given the experimental nature of Labs features, it’s possible that we will implement major changes or even remove functionality with no advanced notice beyond our normal release notes. Any bugs found in Labs are treated the same as other production bugs and should be reported to our support team.
