Agile: The journey from here - Step 2: Recommend

Step 2: Recommend

“Rome wasn’t built in a day” -John Heywood

You might be feeling overwhelmed by all the data collected in the assessment phase, that is normal. You also might not have all the answers or even know where to start, this step will help you. We recommend you engage an experienced agile coach to help you work through this step.

In this step, you will design a comprehensive visual that includes strategic milestones, tooling capabilities and pivotal practices. The goal is to come up with a roadmap that engages buy-in from key stakeholders and drives action in the most opportunistic areas of the organization.
Download our customer journey template to visualize all the key elements for your agile expansion plan and will represent your roadmap. The areas of deficiencies that were revealed in the assessment data from step 1 are usually make up the milestones, see the example expansion plan image below. For best results, collaborate with your on-site agile coaches and key stakeholders to determine which practices should be standardized and what systemic root causes need to be addressed to unblock progress. Coming up with this plan is going to take some time and multiple iterations. After you have come up with a rough draft expansion plan with your agile coaches, schedule a few workshops to review the plan and gather insights from subject matter experts across your business unit. If you would like ideas on how to facilitate the gathering of this information, we have an expansion plan workshop guide you may use.

  • highlight the plan to address root causes that are blocking the transformation
  • highlight capability and enablement gaps
  • identify areas of the organization where change should occur
  • help justify the cost of new tools and licenses
